Livio Felluga's Ribolla Gialla is a fresh, lean and delicate white wine from Friuli, vinified and aged only in steel. It exudes pleasant olfactory sensations of fruit, citrus fruits and wild flowers. On the palate it is very fresh, sapid, citrusy and well balanced. Ideal for aperitifs
Livio Felluga's Ribolla Gialla is a white wine that expresses the truest and most authentic face of the Friulian area on the border with Slovenia. This ancient white grape variety is, in fact, the richest autochthonous vine in history, a true icon of this region. Generous and rich, it is a grape variety that, in order to give great wines, must be cultivated in the highest parts of the hills, where the soils are stonier and poorer, so as to produce few high quality grapes. Livio Felluga's version perfectly reflects the best characteristics of the grape variety, with delicate citrus and fruity aromas and a sip of great mineral freshness.
Ribolla Gialla wine was born within the walls of one of Friuli's most famous wineries. Livio Felluga began producing wine after World War II and soon established a reputation for his uncompromising quality-oriented vision. His famous labels, bearing the ancient maps of the territory, have become an unmistakable trademark and a symbol of excellence. His estate consists of various plots in the Colli Orientali and Collio areas, with some plots of extraordinary historical value, such as the famous Rosazzo vineyards. Livio Felluga has always worked to enhance his land through the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties such as Ribolla Gialla, Picoloit, Refosco and the international varieties historically present in Friuli, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Friulano and Chardonnay. Even today, its wines are recognised as some of the best ambassadors in the world of Friuli's territory and traditions.
Ribolla Felluga is produced from grapes grown in the most suitable areas of Friuli's Colli Orientali. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and cold macerated for a short period. After soft pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine rests on the lees for a few months in steel tanks. In the glass it has a light straw yellow colour. The bouquet expresses aromas of orange blossom, wild flowers, aromatic herbs, fragrant aromas of apple and white-fleshed fruit. The sip is smooth and dynamic, with delicate and elegant fruity notes that anticipate a savoury finish characterised by a vibrant citrusy freshness. It is a perfect white to be enjoyed as an aperitif or with delicately flavoured fish dishes.
