The Sangiovese Riserva "Vigna del Generale" is an elegant and complex red wine born from the minerals soil of Predappio and aged for 2 years in oak barrels: one of the best expression of Sangiovese di Romagna. It expresses clean and complex aromas, being a well-structured, smooth and velvety wine.
Nicolucci's Sangiovese Superiore Riserva "Vigna del Generale" is a superb wine. The land of origin of this great red from Romagna is a gift from an old general from Predappio to the Nicolucci family. A small vineyard of 2.5 hectares, with vines over 90 years old, which was guarded, as a present, by a wolf that the same unknown general was unable to tame.
The soils of Predappio are ideal for obtaining strong, thick wines. Clay and limestone soils, with sulphur veins and excellent exposure. The Sangiovese grapes carefully selected in the vineyard, after destemming, are sent to vitrified cement tanks for fermentation, which lasts 20 days. The wine matures 24 months in 30-hectolitre oak barrels.
The Sangiovese Superiore Riserva 'Vigna del Generale' is the winery's Cru, ruby red in colour, with hues tending towards garnet. Clear and complex on the nose, with a balsamic and mentholated bouquet of ripe fruit, violets, dark chocolate and spices. Elegant on the palate, intense, fresh, with subtle, long tannins and red fruit hints. Vigorous and harmonious on the palate. A prestigious wine, produced in limited quantities and perfect to be kept over time and enjoy its ample structure.
