The Etna Bianco "Le Vigne Niche - Calderara Sottana" is obtained from ancient bush-trained Carricante vines and is vinified and aged in oak barrels. It expresses the richness of the volcanic territory with intense personality. The fresh and mineral profile is supported by pleasant citrus and floral perceptions.

The Etna Bianco “Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana” is one of the flagship labels of Tenuta delle Terre Nere. It is part of the Collection reserved for the best parcels classified by the winery as Premier Cru. It is a pure Carricante that expresses the entire personality of a unique terroir in the world. The cool climate and strong temperature fluctuations due to altitude provide very intense grapes, allowing for an elegant, fresh, and mineral white, typical of volcanic soils. The vinification carried out in wood gives a multifaceted complexity that makes the wine harmonious and rich, without compromising its clear and savory expressive tension.

“Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana” is an Etna Bianco that comes from the experience of one of the most famous wineries in the area. Tenuta delle Terre Nere has vineyards in six different contrade: Calderara Sottana, San Lorenzo, Bocca d'Orzo, Guardiola, Santo Spirito, and Feudo di Mezzo. Thanks to meticulous zoning work, it is able to offer bottles that are the pure expression of each single cru. The grapes of Carricante come from old bush-trained vines, cultivated in Contrada Calderara, on the northern slope of Etna, at an altitude of about 650 meters above sea level, on stony volcanic lava soils. At the end of the harvest, after a brief cold maceration, the clusters are pressed very gently. The must ferments in French oak barrels and always matures in 10-hectoliter barrels for a period of 10 months. Before being put on sale, the wine ages for 8 months in the bottle.

The Etna Bianco “Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana” from Tenuta delle Terre Nere is a white that enhances the perfect and centuries-old interaction between a historic native grape variety of the area and the soils of the volcanic slopes. In the glass, it presents a light yellow color with brilliant golden reflections. The aromatic profile is very elegant and refined, with scents of white flowers, orange blossom, lemon zest, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub, aromas of grapefruit, cedar, fragrant white-fleshed fruit, and light spicy nuances. The sip is savory and vertical, with complex and delicate aromas and a persistent, fresh, and mineral finish. Intense and deep, it also has an excellent aging potential.
