Friulano from the Ferlat winery is a territorial white wine perfect with fish and vegetable dishes. It is made from pure Tocai Friulano grapes and spontaneous fermentation with the sole use of indigenous yeasts, while the ageing process takes place in steel for a few months. The intense golden yellow colour shines in the glass with greenish reflections while aromas of jasmine and almond inebriate the nose. The sip is full, fresh, balanced and long.

Friulano di Ferlat is a white wine that well expresses the character of the grape variety and the territory where it's produced. Friulano is one of the oldest and most emblematic grape varieties in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, whose characteristic and pleasant almond aftertaste is well known. Until 2007, this indigenous variety was called Tocai, but due to a legal dispute with Hungary, which contested its excessive similarity and therefore a possible confusion with its own wine Tokaji, it had to change its name to Friulano.
Ferlat Friulano is only made from grapes of the indigenous variety carrying the same name, organically grown and certified. When the grapes have reached full ripeness, they are harvested and then destemmed and crushed. The must thus obtained is subjected to a brief contact with the skins for about 24 hours, followed by soft pressing. The ensuing alcoholic fermentation, conducted exclusively by indigenous yeasts, takes place in cement tanks, as does the subsequent spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aging for a few months takes place in the same containers on the fine lees with periodic batonnage, before bottling.
To the eye, Friulano Ferlat expresses an intense straw-yellow colour tending towards golden with greenish highlights. Fruity and floral descriptors such as jasmine, dried flowers, wild flowers, summer fruit and bitter almond dominate the olfactory profile. The taste is consistent, defined by velvety softness, a rich mineral vein and lively freshness, as well as a pleasant, characteristic almondy finish. A persuasive interpretation of Friulano to pair with seafood dishes, tasty pastas and risottos or rich savoury pies.
