Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 'Les Corbeaux' Guillard 2021
ArtisanalThe Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru “Les Corbeaux” by Guillard is a great red from Burgundy, from one of the great areas of French Pinot Noir. A wine that starts to express itself timidly but, with a little time in the glass, reveals great intensity and elegance. Red fruits blend with hints of rose and tertiary sensations of coffee and cocoa. Of great harmony, with a fine tannic texture, perfect for pairing with large meats
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ‘Les Corbeaux’ from the S.C. Guillard winery is characterized as a structured, broad, and elegant Burgundy Pinot Noir, attributes that reflect the characteristics of Gevrey-Chambertin wines. The AOC of Gevrey-Chambertin takes its name from the homonymous village located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, particularly between the small municipalities of Brochon and Morey-Saint-Denis. The climat of ‘Les Corbeaux’, classified as Premier Cru, is located just south of the village, adjacent to the Grand Cru of Mazis-Chambertin, along the famous Route des Grands Crus.
‘Les Corbeaux’ S.C. Guillard Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is a 100% Pinot Noir from vines cultivated according to sustainable practices within the Premier Cru of Les Corbeaux. The plants are very old and rest on distinctly calcareous soils located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. When the grapes have reached the ideal stage of ripeness, manual harvesting is carried out followed by traditional red winemaking through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats.wood in contact with the skins, excluding any invasive operation that could interfere with the expression of the terroir. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is aged for a year in oak barrels of multiple uses until final bottling.
In appearance, the 1er Cru Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Les Corbeaux’ by S.C. Guillard shows a rather transparent and bright ruby red color. Intense and elegant, the olfactory panorama is defined by hints of small red fruits, dog rose, and tilled earth that blend with tertiary perceptions of coffee, cocoa, and fur. On the palate, it is harmonious, soft, and crunchy, with a robust structure well supported by the pleasant fresh-salty component and the silky tannic texture. Long and flavorful the finish.
