Domaine Fourrier's Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru "Combe aux Moines" Vieilles Vignes is a Pinot Noir of great expressive depth, rich and complex, giving an absolutely unforgettable taste experience. It is no coincidence that there are 26 Climats classified Premier Cru and as many as 9 Grand Cru in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, confirming the absolute value of this wonderful area located at the foot of the Combe de Lavaux. The viticultural tradition, introduced by Roman colonization, was then handed down by the patient work of monks, that helped selecting the best plots, which still form the basis of the worldwide reputation of the terroir.
"Combe aux Moines" Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru is the fruit of the work of an estate, which has been committed to enhancing this splendid terroir since the 1930s. Domaine Fourrier manages a splendid 9-hectare property with parcels located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot and Morey-St-Denis, with the presence of vines that are over 70 years old. The Premier Cru "Combe aux Moines" is located in the extreme north of the Gevrey-Chambertin communal territory, and for the production of this fine wine, only grapes from old PInot Noir vineyards are used, which naturally produce few clusters, but endowed with extraordinary richness and aromatic concentration. In addition, the presence of deep roots makes the vines less sensitive to the weather pattern of the vintage and is able to give an excellent harvest every year. At the end of manual harvesting, the grapes are fermented with maceration on the skins. According to custom, aging takes place in French oak barrels for about a year.
