The Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva "Pasithea Oro" from the Girlan winery is an intense and enveloping dessert wine that seduces with its rich, soft, and alluring aromas. This ancient Central European variety, born from a genetic mutation of Traminer or Savagnin, has adapted wonderfully in Alto Adige, where it produces grapes of high quality. Thanks to the mild and temperate climate of the Cornaiano area, it is possible to leave the bunches in the vineyard to over-ripen, allowing for particularly sugary grapes, ideal for creating a great aromatic sweet wine.
The Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva "Pasithea Oro" is produced in Alto Adige by the Girlan winery, which consists of 200 member contributors, who collectively own 220 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Bassa Atesina and Oltradige. The Cornaiano area is characterized by gentle slopes facing south, located at an altitude between 450 and 550 meters above sea level. It is an area with a particularly mild climate, protected by the Alps from the cold northern winds and kissed by the warm breezes that rise up the Adige valley from Lake Garda. The grapes used to produce the Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva come from a single vineyard located near the small lake of Monticolo. The particular temperature and humidity conditions allow for the development on the berries of the noble rot, capable of enriching the wine with elegant and complex aromas. The manual harvest takes place towards the end of November. After whole cluster pressing, the must ferments for 6 months in oak barriques and rests in the same barrels for another 15 months before bottling.
