“Gibelé” from the Sicilian winery Pellegrino is an intense and aromatic white wine, produced with Zibibbo or Moscato d’Alessandria grapes, a variety that has always been cultivated in the lands of western Sicily and on the island of Pantelleria. The name refers to the relief of the extinct volcano of the black pearl of the Mediterranean. Once destined only for producing sweet wines, Zibibbo grapes have proven to be very suitable for creating harmonious and rich aromatic dry wines, even in the Marsala area. The vinification in steel enhances the citrus and exotic fruit notes typical of this ancient variety, which gives a soft, fresh, and salty sip, particularly suitable for pairing with seafood dishes. The wine “Gibelé” is one of the most famous whites from the Pellegrino winery, one of the most important realities on the island. Founded at the end of the 19th century, it manages over 150 hectares distributed across 4 estates in the western area of Sicily and on the island of Pantelleria: Salinaro in Petrosino, Kelbi and Gazzerotta in Mazara del Vallo and Rinazzo in Marsala. Thanks to the availability of land in various areas, with different exposures and altitudes, Pellegrino cultivates each grape variety in the most suitable plots, ensuring an excellent quality level of the grapes. Thus, classic labels are born, which complement the historic production of traditional Marsala, the historic and famous wine that in past centuries made the fortune of this land.
