'Gran Enemigo Blend' El Enemigo 2019
The "Gran Enemigo" is a great Mendoza red wine made from a blend of Bordeaux varieties and aged for 18 months in used oak vats of various sizes. It has a deep garnet red color and is enveloped by intense notes of ripe red fruit, cherry in spirit, plum jam, sweet spices, hints of cocoa and coffee. The mouthfeel is broad, voluminous and textured, with a good freshness and tight tannins
The Argentine Bordeaux blend ‘Gran Enemigo Blend’ from the El Enemigo winery has an intense garnet red color. Vivid notes of cherry in alcohol, berries, dried plum, and sweet spices characterize the nose, supported by toasted hints of coffee and cocoa. Tasting round, intense, and rich, in balance between enveloping softness, pleasant freshness, and a firm tannic structure.
The harvest occurs in a staggered manner and in the winery, 30% of the grapes are vinified whole, with alcoholic fermentation taking place spontaneously in used wooden barrels, associated with 5 days of cold maceration and a further brief contact between the must and the skins. The subsequent aging period lasts about 18 months and takes place in large French oak barrels of over 100 years.
