The Muffo is an elegant Muffato wine, a complex expression of passito Grechetto obtained from grapes affected by noble rot and aged in barriques for 12 months. Its enveloping sweetness, with notes of candied citrus, yellow flowers, fruit, and flint, is balanced by vibrant freshness and rich savoriness.

The Passito wine “Muffo” is a 100% Grechetto produced by the winery Sergio Mottura only in particularly favorable vintages. This is indeed a label that comes from grapes affected by noble rot, which therefore requires particular weather conditions that do not always occur. One more reason not to miss the opportunity to taste it, fully enjoying the ripe and buttery aromas typical of the type, which make the tasting experience a true pleasure.

This Grechetto Passito “Muffo” is made from the pure use of Grechetto grapes, a variety that has always been valued by the winery Sergio Mottura. The vines grow in vineyards located near Lake Alviano, managed according to organic farming practices. The bunches are hand-picked after they have been affected by noble rot, favored by the mists that rise from the nearby lake on autumn mornings. Once in the winemaking facilities, the grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers. Followed by then the aging, in which the wine rests for 12 months in oak barrels, after which the bottling operations are carried out.

The “Muffo” is a Grechetto Passito that, in the glass, presents itself with a typically golden color, with a slight amber flash that runs through the rim. The bouquet of aromas that gives rise to the olfactory profile of this label moves on layered notes, where tropical fruit, flowers, spices, and mineral touches coexist in an orderly and precise ensemble. On the palate, it has excellent structure, characterized by a sweet sip in which freshness and minerality make the drinking experience extremely pleasant. It ends with a finish characterized by a spicy aftertaste. A perfect bottle to indulge in a classy pairing at the end of dinner, accompanying dessert or dry pastries.
