Greco Pietracupa 2022
The Greco di Pietracupa is a fresh and fragrant white wine from Campania that is vinified only in steel. On the palate, it is characterized by a vibrant freshness and a pleasant, smooth texture, enriched by citrus, savory, and mineral aromas, with pleasant herbal nuances.
Pietracupa Greco is configured as a Campanian white wine capable of combining expressive richness and dynamic smoothness, also endowed with an excellent quality/price ratio. We are in the municipality of Montefredane, in the province of Avellino, where in the early 1970s Peppino Loffredo acquired a vineyard with the intention of producing Fiano for himself and his friends. The turning point came in the 1990s with his son Sabino, who was strongly determined to elevate the quality of production in the wake of the great white wines of the world, focusing especially on the native grape varieties Fiano and Greco. Through these grapes, Pietracupa interprets with remarkable mastery the strong mineral component of the territory.
The Greco di Pietracupa is made exclusively from Greco grapes grown in a cool climate on volcanic soils rich in mineral substances. Following the harvest, the bunches undergo a gentle pressing and the must is then conveyed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Subsequently, the mass matures in the same type of wine containers for several months before the final bottling, in such a way as to safeguard the freshness and varietal expression intact.
The color of Greco Pietracupa is intense straw yellow with golden hues. The aromatic spectrum opens up with vivid hints of yellow-fleshed fruit and citrus, soon reached by clear and pleasant mineral puffs, with delicate herbaceous nuances in the background. On the palate, it is intense, balanced, and smooth, with a lively fresh-salty verve that preludes to the fruity and mineral epilogue, of notable taste-olfactory correspondence. Thanks to its dynamic and territorial character, this Greco constitutes an ideal pairing with seafood dishes from the Campanian culinary tradition such as spaghetti with clams.
