The Grignolino Grignè di Montalbera is a Piedmontese red wine of delicate structure that impresses with its clarity and aromatic complexity: from a light ruby red dress with orange hues, it releases a widely floral bouquet, with hints of marasca, underbrush, and a slight component of oriental spices. On the palate, it is harmonious, warm, and pleasant, with a slightly bitter aromatic finish of rhubarb.

The Grignolino d’Asti “Grignè” is a product with which Montalbera pays homage to a type of traditional wine, always present in the viticulture of Piemonte. The Grignolino, an indigenous variety mainly found in the Asti area and Monferrato casalese, has recently come back into the spotlight thanks to the visionary work of some producers, including Montalbera itself, and is interpreted in a classic manner, with the usual light color and a finish that envelops the palate with a hint of bitterness. A label that deserves a concentrated tasting, focusing on the range of floral nuances that paint a distinctly feminine silhouette on the nose.

This “Grignè” is a Grignolino d’Asti that comes from the homonymous grapes, used in purity by the Montalbera winery. The vineyards are scattered between the area of Castagnole Monferrato and Montemagno, and the vines grow using the guyot system. The bunches, carefully selected during the manual harvesting operations, are immediately transported to the facilities dedicated to winemaking, where they are destemmed. The The obtained grapes are pressed and the must ferments in steel. Always in steel containers, the wine then remains for a few months to mature, until it is deemed ready to be bottled and marketed.

The Grignolino d’Asti “Grignè” presents itself in the glass with a light ruby red color, tinged with some light orange veins. On the nose, the wonder of the aromas is entirely floral, enriched only at the end by more fruity notes and slight spicy hints. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a sip that warms the palate, where the typical aftertaste of the varietal, which tends to be slightly bitter. A traditional red perfect for accompanying lunches and dinners during everyday life, also considering the highly convenient price at which Montalbera offers it.
