Grillo 'Laluci' Baglio del Cristo di Campobello 2024
"Lalùci" is a fresh and well-structured Grillo, vinified in steel. The bouquet is a mirror of the Sicilian land, citrus notes and yellow flower aromas with a minty finish and marine hints. On the palate, it is savory and mineral with a good aromatic persistence and a pleasant softness.
The Grillo “Laluci” is one of the labels that best represents, in the name of excellence, a grape variety that is now establishing itself among the most interesting in the Sicilian landscape and beyond. The Grillo grape was born in the 1800s from a cross between two historic Sicilian varieties: Catarratto and Moscato d’Alessandria. From the first, it has taken body, structure, and citrusy freshness, from the second, harmony and enticing aromatic notes. It is traditionally cultivated in the eastern part of Sicily and has found a perfect habitat in the Agrigento area. The white soil, rich in gypsum and limestone, and the warm climate, tempered by breezes from the coast of Licata, provide ideal conditions for the cultivation of white grapes with a refined and elegant profile.
The Grillo “Laluci” comes from grapes grown on calcareous soils, rich in gypsum, in the hilly area of Campobello di Licata. The harvest is manual and is carried out slightly early to preserve the right freshness. The grapes are subjected to a brief cold maceration at a temperature of 8-10 °C and after soft pressing, the free-run must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The Grillo matures for about 4 months on the fine lees, always in steel containers, and finishes its aging with a few months in bottle before being put on sale.
The Grillo “Laluci” wine is a white that impresses with its intensity, freshness, and elegance, the result of careful and rigorous work both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In the glass, it presents a bright and luminous straw-yellow color. The olfactory profile is refined and multifaceted, with aromas of orange blossom and white flowers, notes of lime, grapefruit, and citrus, white fruit, iodized hints, and Mediterranean scrub. The sip is of vibrant freshness, with satisfying fruit, which unfolds into more mature and tropical notes, crossed by a salty and mineral vein. Excellent with seafood dishes.
