The Lagrein by Girlan is a fine and pleasant red wine from Alto Adige that faithfully reflects the distinctive traits of the variety. It is therefore pleasantly tart and velvety, with good body, soft and enveloping, characterized by pleasant aromas of violet and berries immersed in a breath of spices

The Lagrein from Cantina Girlan is a red wine from Alto Adige, which well expresses the youthful intensity of a historic grape variety from the Region. It is a wine of good body, fruity and immediate in its direct and straightforward varietal interpretation. Lagrein is an indigenous grape from Alto Adige, born from a spontaneous cross between Teroldego and an ancient grape variety now unknown, which produces wines rich in aromas and with a pleasantly rustic and bold profile, perfect to pair at the table with typical meat dishes of the local cuisine or with game.

The red Lagrein comes from the vineyards located in Cornaiano and Egna of Cantina Girlan, which collects grapes from the best plots of the Bassa Atesina, cultivated by the numerous contributing members. The Lagrein vineyards are grown on deep soils rich in sand, which have proven to be the best for this indigenous red grape variety. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and sent for fermentation in steel at controlled temperature. The wine then matures for a period of at least 5 months in large oak barrels and tanks of cement before being bottled.

The Lagrein wine perfectly reflects the production philosophy of Cantina Girlan, which has always been committed to enhancing the excellences of the Region, with labels that are a faithful expression of the best qualities of the territory. The choice of a short aging in large wood and cement gives us the most sincere face of Lagrein, aimed at enhancing especially its varietal aromas. In the glass, it presents itself with a dark ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet opens with floral scents, which soon give way to aromas of plum and underbrush, with spicy nuances. On the palate, it has a good structure, with ripe fruit, a well-present tannic texture, and a finish of lively freshness.
