"Baccanera" is a fresh and fragrant red wine from the Langhe made from a blend of Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo, and a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested in the municipality of Barolo. The sip is lively, agile, and of pleasant complexity and character, with a delicate tannin, surrounded by notes of sweet spices, red plum, hay, berries, and black pepper.

“Baccanera” from the winery Lo Zoccolaio is an intense, rich, and structured red wine that serves as a synthesis between two great wine terroirs: the Langhe and Bordeaux. It is a blend composed of Barbera, Merlot, and Nebbiolo, to which a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon is added. The French inspiration is also reflected in the choice of a long aging in barriques rather than the classic large oak barrels typical of the Piedmontese tradition. The result is a wine complex and harmonious, concentrated and rich, particularly suitable for important pairings with roasted red meats or game.

The red “Baccanera” Lo Zoccolaio comes from a winery that has managed to stand out with a range of quality wines, capable of authentically expressing the best characteristics of the territory. The vineyards have an average age of about 30 years and are cultivated in the Barolo area, at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level, with a southeast exposure. The cool and ventilated climate and the precious calcareous-clay marls are very suitable, not only for Nebbiolo, but more generally for all red grape varieties. The harvest takes place in the second half of September, and at the end of the destemming, separate fermentations for each grape variety are carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a period of a couple of weeks. The wine is then blended and aged for 18 months in French oak barriques.

The Langhe “Baccanera” Lo Zoccolaio has a typically territorial face, which focuses especially on the pedoclimatic peculiarities of the Langhe. Unlike the usual practice in the area, it is not a single-varietal wine, but a blend of grapes with complementary characteristics, which manage to create a perfect taste balance. It presents itself with a dark red color with purple reflections. The olfactory profile is rich and intense, with aromas of wild blackberry, ripe cherry, black currant, red-fleshed plum, notes of soft oriental spices, hints of noble woods, and a spicy touch of black pepper. The sip is harmonious, with a rich and soft fruit that extends towards a fresh and long-lasting finish.
