The Malvasia delle Lipari from Tenuta di Castellaro is a small enological jewel of the Aeolian Islands produced with the natural drying of the grapes in the sun. A glass that surprises with the complexity of the olfactory bouquet that reveals notes of dehydrated fruit, aromatic herbs, Mediterranean scrub and iodized bursts that can be found on the palate, supported by a beautiful sweetness that is never cloying

The Malvasia delle Lipari from Tenuta di Castellaro is the most classic and typical passito wine from this beautiful island of the Sicilian archipelago of the Aeolian Islands. The production of this label represents a story and a tradition that has its roots in past centuries. It is made with two ancient grape varieties from the Mediterranean area: Malvasia and Corinto Nero, grown on the volcanic soils of the island. Thanks to the drying of the grapes in the sun, the wine becomes a precious nectar with aromas of candied fruit, citrus peel, dried fruit, and hints of medicinal herbs. The sip seduces with its harmonious softness, with enveloping, warm, and enticing aromas.

The dessert wine Malvasia delle Lipari is born in the splendid territory of Lipari, a small island of the Aeolian archipelago. The Tenuta di Castellaro consists of several plots cultivated in various areas of the island, differing from each other in soil characteristics: Vigna Maggiore, Lisca, Lisca Alta, Caolino, and Gelso. About twenty hectares in total, of which nine are planted, all with native grapes from the area. The vineyards are planted on volcanic origin soils rich in sands, pumice, obsidian, and numerous mineral substances. The warm and breezy Mediterranean climate is mitigated by sea breezes, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly, also thanks to the presence of good temperature excursions between day and night. The Malvasia vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of 150 meters on panoramic terraces overlooking the sea. The soils are of volcanic origin, consisting mainly of light sands rich in mineral elements. The training system is bush-trained, according to the oldest Greek customs and particularly suitable for arid areas. After harvesting, the best bunches are dried in the sun for a couple of weeks before proceeding to pressing and slow fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels, which ends after a few months. The wine matures for about a year in oak barrels and then ages for another 12 months in the bottle before being put on sale.

for its aromatic softness, perfectly balanced by freshness and sapidity. It is a very harmonious dessert wine, excellent to enjoy with small dry pastries or with a platter of aged, spicy, or blue cheeses. In the glass, it presents a splendid bright golden yellow color. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of dehydrated yellow fruit, candied citrus peels, honey, dried fruit, iodine notes, and herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it has an enticing sweet entry, with broad and dense aromas, well supported by a good final freshness.
