Malvasia Istriana "Monemvasìa" by Nevio Scala is a Venetian orange wine macerated on the skins, aged for about 8 months in cement tanks. It presents itself with an intensely golden garment and expresses aromas of lemon zest, peaches, butter and fresh flowers, revealing itself in a full and vibrant sip, of excellent freshness and enveloping smoothness, enlivened by a light tannic grip and a long salty finish
The wine "Monemvmasia" by Nevio Scala combines the bold aroma of Malvasia with the ease of drinking, making it a strong candidate for an essential daily wine. Nevio Scala is a well-known name not only among wine enthusiasts but also among sports fans, as his resume as a soccer player, and especially as a coach, is truly impressive. As a great coach of Parma and Milan, Nevio has always cultivated a deep passion for wine, and for some years now, he has decided to take over his family's winery with a dual purpose: the first, more personal, to dedicate himself to nature and the vineyard, and the second, to give a decisive and uncompromising imprint. Thus, Nevio decided to eliminate chemical or synthetic substances, converting the vineyard to organic farming and continuing consistently in the cellar. The typical grapes of the Paduan area give rise to straightforward, juicy, and satisfying expressions that can be enjoyed without delay with any kind of daily cuisine.
The white "Monemvmasia" is made from pure Malvasia Istriana grapes, with 5-day maceration in contact with the skins. The resulting delicate orange liquid undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks and is aged for 9 months in concrete vats. The vineyards are located on flat volcanic soils near the Euganean Hills in the municipality of Lozzo Atestino, and are cultivated following the principles of organic farming.
Nevio Scala's "Monemvmasia" captures attention with its bright golden hues. Despite its price, this liquid goes beyond the duties of a "daily wine" and displays notes of orange peel, baked peaches, and clarified butter. Its richness and fullness return to the palate, measured and composed, but pleasantly countered by an integrated tannic friction. This wine is versatile in pairing, proudly accompanying cold cuts, seafood pasta dishes, as well as fresh or briefly aged cheeses.
