
Malvasia Nera 'Serenere' Due Palme 2022
Il Serenere is a red wine from the Salento area made from Malvasia Nera grapes. Harmonious and intense on the palate, it releases strong fresh notes of raspberry and pomegranate on the nose.
The Malvasia Nera “Serenere”, produced by the Apulian winery Due Palme, is a splendid version of this historic black grape variety, which belongs to one of the oldest families of grapes in the Mediterranean, named after the port of Monemvasia in the Peloponnese. Always committed to enhancing the rich ampelographic heritage of Salento, Due Palme wanted to create a pure version of this interesting red, often blended with other wines from the area. The delicate winemaking process brings out its best qualities, highlighting its harmonious, soft, and intensely fruity character.
Malvasia Nera “Serenere” is the result of one of the largest and most important realities in the Apulian wine scene. The winery Due Palme manages over 2500 hectares of vineyards, belonging to about 1200 member growers. It cultivates the main grape varieties historically present in the lands of Salento and produces a wide range of wines with a distinctly local profile. The Malvasia Nera grapes are harvested during of September and the bunches are quickly transported to the winery, where they undergo fermentation at controlled temperature with skin maceration in rotating fermenters, which work in total protection from oxygen to avoid oxidation phenomena and preserve all the fragrance of the rich aromatic profile of the grapes. Before bottling, the wine matures for several months in steel tanks.
Malvasia Nera “Serenere” by Due Palme is a very interesting bottle that allows you to discover and appreciate a grape variety of great enological and historical value, but often overshadowed by the two most famous grapes of the area: Negroamaro and Primitivo. In the glass, it presents a beautiful bright ruby red color and offers a fragrant bouquet characterized by notes of raspberry, marasca, red currant, pomegranate, delicate floral hints, nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, and subtle sensations of soft spices. The entry on the palate is smooth and harmonious, with ripe and rich fruit, a tannic texture of great finesse and a pleasantly fresh finish.
