“La Mandorla” by Luigi Spertino is an intense and complex version of Barbera, a generous Piedmontese grape variety. Often vinified simply to enhance its lively youthful freshness and exuberant fruity aromas, Barbera is actually a grape variety very suitable for long aging in wood, which gives it a more balanced face. The result is a red of good structure, offering aromas of red fruit, elegant spicy notes, and a long, persistent, and satisfying sip.
The Rosso “La Mandorla” comes from a family-run winery in Monferrato. Luigi Spertino and his son Mauro perfectly embody the classic figure of the winemaker, deeply connected to his land and committed to enhancing the indigenous grape varieties of the area, primarily Grignolino and Barbera. The old Barbera vines are cultivated in the Mandorle locality, in the hilly area of Mombercelli, facing west, at about 230 meters above sea level. Only manual labor is used between the rows, without the use of mechanical means and with the utmost respect for nature. The vinifications serve only to facilitate the transformation of the must into wine, intervening as little as possible. In this way, a great Barbera is born that will conquer from the first sip anyone who wants to discover the authentic character of the grape variety.

Fermentation takes place in steel tanks and in oak barrels spontaneously and with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 18 months in oak barrels before being bottled.
