The Muller Thurgau from Girlan is a light and fresh white wine that ferments and matures exclusively in stainless steel tanks. It comes from two different plots, one rocky in the Adige Valley and the other sandy in the Isarco Valley. Thus, a delicate, fragrant and slightly aromatic white is born, with precious notes of nutmeg.

The Müller Thurgau is a white wine with a slightly aromatic profile, expressing fresh fruity aromas, enriched by an elegant spicy touch that characterizes the finish. It is a recently introduced grape variety, born towards the end of the 19th century from a cross between the noble Riesling Renato and the Madeleine Royale, with the aim of creating a cold-resistant grape variety that also ensured good production. To produce interesting wines, it must be cultivated at very high altitudes and in areas with rather low average seasonal temperatures, conditions it has found in Alto Adige, where it expresses itself at excellent qualitative levels.

For the Müller Thurgau white, Cantina Girlan uses grapes that come from two different areas. Part of the vineyards are cultivated above Bolzano, in the initial part of the Isarco Valley, at an altitude of 500-800 meters, on soils composed of sands and porphyries. The blend is completed with grapes from vineyards located in the hilly area of Oltredige, near Cornaiano, at an altitude of about 500 meters, on soils of ancient glacial origin, rich in minerals. After manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately brought to the winery for soft pressing, followed by controlled temperature fermentation in steel. The wine matures on fine lees in steel for a few months before being bottled.

The Müller Thurgau wine from Girlan is an interesting version of this grape variety, which, by blending grapes from two different terroirs, manages to beautifully merge the characteristics of fruity aromatic richness typical of Müller Thurgau with a fresher and more elegant profile. The sole maturation in steel enhances its varietal qualities in the name of expressive purity. The color is straw yellow. The bouquet is characterized by scents of white flowers, aromas of ripe fruit, and hints of nutmeg and soft spices. The entry on the palate is soft and harmonious, with a pleasantly juicy mid-palate and a freshness that is always balanced and never excessive.
