Organic and biodynamicThe Muscadet “Orthogneiss” from Domaine de l’Ecu is a flavorful, subtle, juicy and salty white wine, vinified and aged in cement tanks. It has an elegant and crystalline aromatic profile, with citrus, fruit, toasted almonds and salty water. The sip is soft, round, fresh, mineral and citrusy.
The Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine 'Orthogneiss' from Domaine de l'Ecu is a French wine from the western part of the Loire Valley, produced exclusively from the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety. It is a very famous white wine because it represents the absolute best pairing with a plate of oysters. Its citrusy and fruity profile, simple, fresh, and slightly salty, perfectly matches the marine flavor and the meaty and rich texture of the prized mollusk. The vinification in concrete helps to maintain its characteristic varietal profile intact, in its full and harmonious expressive fragrance.
The white Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine 'Orthogneiss' is the result of a long research effort aimed at creating labels capable of authentically expressing the great wines of the Loire region. Guy Bossard began to take an interest in vineyard management protocols compatible with the environment, inspired by organic farming, since the early '70s, consciously embracing biodynamics twenty years later. A path that has led him to embrace a production philosophy based on the progressive and complete elimination of chemicals. Even in the winery, he follows the path of minimal intervention, using spontaneous fermentations, indigenous yeasts, very low use of sulfur, and aging in inert materials, such as cement or terracotta, to preserve the varietal purity of the grapes. His wines still retain an artisanal character, and today Domaine de l’Ecu is one of the most interesting quality realities in the wine region of Nantes.
The Muscadet "Orthogneiss" produced by Domaine de l'Ecu comes from vines that are about 50 years old and are cultivated on soils characterized by the presence of ancient magmatic rocks of orthogneiss. At the end of fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, the wine rests for a few months in cement before being bottled without filtration. In the glass, it has a bright golden yellow color. On the nose, it recalls aromas of white flowers, citrus, tropical fruit, toasted almonds, spices, iodized hints, and marine. The taste is harmonious, with ripe and delicate fruit and a finish of balanced freshness, closing on savory and mineral notes.
