The Nebbiolo d'Alba by Bruno Giacosa is a red wine with an elegant finish obtained from carefully selected grapes. Nebbiolo d'Alba is one of the calling cards of a reality that has become a true legend in the winemaking landscape of the Langhe. A name that makes enthusiasts tremble is Bruno Giacosa, whose passing has created an impossible void to fill. Always a convinced supporter of a traditionalist approach, Bruno was the architect of some of the most astonishing and unassailable bottles in history, among which stand out some vintages of his legendary Barolo Collina Rionda. This Nebbiolo is a "base" wine, but already capable of expressing all the class of the vineyards located between Barolo and Barbaresco. A gem with an incredible quality-price ratio.
The red Nebbiolo comes from vineyards of the homonymous grape variety, cultivated between the municipalities of Barolo and Barbaresco. An interpretation that can be classified among the great classics of Langa, which comes partly from estate-owned grapes and partly from grapes supplied by some farmers personally selected in the past by Bruno, a practice also used for the production of the great Barolos. In the vineyard, the approach is respectful and attentive, with a careful selection of the bunches that takes place manually. In the cellar, the respect for tradition continues, therefore after the alcoholic fermentation carried out in steel, the liquid ages in large barrels for a year. An additional 5-month resting period in glass precedes the release for sale.
The Nebbiolo wine presents itself in an unmistakable ruby dress edged with garnet reflections. Langarolo to the core, the liquid immediately reveals its origins, rhythmically offering notes of cherry, licorice, and floral inlays of dog rose. It is a glass that, while not ostentatious, conquers with finesse and cohesion. The sip is that of a small Barolo, driven by an exuberant freshness and a sculpted, tapered tannin. A splendid testimony of a magical terroir, delightful with porcini mushroom risottos, braised dishes, or on a luscious egg enriched with truffle shavings, for the total satisfaction of the senses. Purity.
