Nerojbleo Gulfi 2022
Organic and biodynamicThe Nerojbleo is a warm and sunny expression of Nero d'Avola. The aging for 12 months in barriques and French tonneaux makes it round and velvety, with a deep bouquet where notes of berries and black cherry stand out, with a hint of tobacco. The sip is dense, with returns of blackberry, cinnamon, and aromatic herbs.
Nerojbleo from the famous Sicilian winery Gulfi is a red that enhances the best qualities of the Nero d’Avola grape, which in the Chiaramonte area expresses itself with a particularly fine and elegant profile. The temperate climate and the suitable soils are perfect for high-quality viticulture, based on low yields and high planting density. The search for the best biotypes resulting from a long careful mass selection has allowed for the production of excellent grapes, which give a pleasantly fruity wine, capable of combining freshness, softness, and aromatic complexity.
The wine Nerojbleo is born in one of the most important wineries in South-Eastern Sicily. The Gulfi estate is located in the province of Ragusa, in the prestigious area of Chiaramonte and Pachino. The 40 hectares of vineyards are managed under organic farming and are mainly cultivated with the indigenous grape varieties of the territory, particularly Nero d’Avola, the true ambassador of Val di Noto. The grapes come from the Nero d’Avola vineyards located in the Chiaramonte area.Gulfi and Ragoleti, located at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. The vines are cultivated using the traditional alberello method, on calcareous soils with the presence of red clays rich in iron minerals. The harvest takes place towards the end of September and the grapes are sent for fermentation with classic skin maceration. The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux and ages for about a year in the bottle before being marketed.
The red Nerojbleo is one of the symbolic labels of the Gulfi winery, dedicated to the most famous and widespread indigenous red grape variety in Sicily. In the glass, it presents a rather dark ruby red color with subtle garnet reflections. The olfactory profile is elegant and rich, characterized by notes of ripe cherry, sour cherry, small dark berry fruits, floral hints of violet, and delicate touches of soft spices. Intense and broad, on the palate it has fine and well-integrated tannins, a harmonious, seductive, and persistent sip that calls for pleasantly fresh and spicy sensations.
