'Ninja Rouge' Romain Petiteau
‘Ninja Rouge’ by Romain Petiteau is a fresh and smooth red wine, designed for immediate and convivial drinking. It was created as a tribute to Jeanine Petiteau, Romain's mother and a pioneer of viticulture in the Nantes area, whose name is affectionately referenced in the wordplay that gives rise to ‘Ninja’. In the 1980s, Jeanine embarked on her winemaking career in a still predominantly male context, helping to pave a new path for enology in this area of the Loire Valley. The grapes ferment spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts, and the wines age separately in buried cement tanks before the final blending. On the nose, notes of black cherry and sour cherry emerge, accompanied by hints of pepper, delicate spices, and a slight earthy nuance. The sip is juicy, soft, and agile, supported by a pleasant freshness and a subtle mineral vein that accompanies a persistent and savory finish. It pairs well with roast chicken with Mediterranean herbs
