The Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice “Amelia” signed by La Palazzola is a seductive and complex sweet wine, capable of enchanting enthusiasts of the type. La Palazzola is now a widely known and appreciated reality due to the multifaceted expressions bottled by Stefano Grilli, who, with the advice of an exceptional winemaker like Riccardo Cotarella, has managed to become a solid reference point for Umbrian wine. The winery, located in Terni, today produces a considerable number of bottles, around 150,000, with a constant eye on experimentation, which leads Stefano each year to create a new label or a new blend. A wide range of liquids that ranges from sparkling wines to passito, passing through whites and reds, united by a constant attention in the vineyard, where pesticides or synthetic products are banned. A granite certainty.
“Amelia” Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice is produced from Sangiovese grapes, with bunches that are left to dry on racks before being vinified. The vineyards, located in hills near Terni, are cultivated on hilly soils, and are not treated with pesticides or herbicides. In the winery, after alcoholic fermentation, the liquid ages for 48 months in oak barrels from 50 to 100 liters, empty and sealed.
The Occhio di Pernice “Amelia” La Palazzola captivates from the visual aspect, where it shows itself in its enchanting copper-red dress. Extremely complex and fascinating nose, for which descriptors are wasted: it ranges from raisins to oriental spices, from walnut husk to vanilla, for a profile that is extremely rich but never cloying. The sip is filling, sweet and seductive, endowed with a fascinating texture and a spicy finish of a true champion. A delight.
