Pecorino '8 1/2' Villa Medoro 2022
Pecorino 8 1/2 by Villamedoro is a fresh and jovial Abruzzo white wine from the province of Teramo, aged in stainless steel tanks to maintain the fruity fragrance typical of this recently rediscovered variety to the maximum. From the straw yellow color it emanates citrus aromas of grapefruit, framed by hints of sage, aromatic herbs and herbaceous touches.
The Pecorino “8 1/2” from Villa Medoro is a white wine characterized by great drinkability and freshness, a striking example of how one can enjoy wine at a more than reasonable price. The Villa Medoro winery is one of those companies that, despite having a relatively recent history, has already become an important reference point in the Italian landscape, thanks to modern yet territorial interpretations, also due to the consultancy of one of the most important Italian oenologists, namely Riccardo Cotarella. The company, which currently has about 100 hectares of vineyards, manages its considerable heritage in a careful and respectful manner, excluding chemical weeding, minimizing interventions, and enhancing local grape varieties such as Montepulciano, Pecorino, Trebbiano, and Passerina. Villa Medoro is the classic example of how modern techniques and care can be combined, drawing from tradition, and achieving results of surprising clarity and enjoyment.
“8 1/2” Pecorino is obtained from pure grapes of the same variety, a new label of the renowned Abruzzo winery, a synthesis of elegance and finesse. The vineyards, located at about 200 meters above sea level, rest on clay-limestone soils and are cultivated using the ancient local pergola system, used by many local producers. After a careful selection of the grapes, alcoholic fermentation in steel takes place, followed by aging in the same containers, to preserve freshness and dynamism.
The wine “8 1/2” presents itself in the glass with the typical bright and intense straw-yellow color. Clean and refined nose, characterized by hints of white flowers, golden apple, citrus peel, and sulfuric bursts. The sip is slender, dynamic, and highly enjoyable, all played on delicate aromas, sapidity, and freshness. A very tasty liquid, with an overly easy enjoyment, of which it is advisable to stock up.
