PECORINO 'DONNA ORGILLA' FIORANO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Fiorano's 'Donna Orgilla' Pecorino is a well-structured, intense and aromatically rich white wine from the splendid Marche region. It is made from pure Pecorino, an ancient native grape variety, historically present in the border area between Marche and Abruzzo. A long-forgotten variety, which in recent years is experiencing a moment of just rediscovery and appreciation. This is a label with a territorial face, made with an artisanal spirit, which highlights the best varietal characteristics of the grape.

The Fiorano "Donna Orgilla" Pecorino is the fruit of the work and passion of the winery, which has always strived to produce wines that have a strong bond with the traditions of the territory. The 16 hectares of the estate have been certified organic for more than 15 years, a pioneering choice made in unsuspected times out of a genuine conviction that viticulture should coexist in harmony with the surrounding environment. The estate is located in the countryside of Contrada Fiorano in the municipality of Cossignano, in the province of Ascoli Piceno. It is a wonderful hilly area, not far from the Monti Sibillini National Park, sloping gently towards the Adriatic coast. The nearby presence of the sea, with its gentle breezes, helps to mitigate the climate, making it ideal for bringing the grapes to full ripeness. The Pecorino vines have an average age of about 15 years and were planted at an altitude of about 300 metres on predominantly clayey soils. After destemming and soft pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks in a spontaneous manner using only indigenous yeasts. The wine rests in steel on its own yeasts for about 6 months before bottling.

The white Pecorino 'Donna Orgilla' from the Marche winery Fiorano is a wine that expresses a strong bond with its territory of origin. It is an expression of an approach to viticulture that always wants to leave the grapes in the foreground, limiting interventions during vinification to a minimum in order to give voice to the grape variety and terroir. It has a fairly intense light yellow colour. The nose releases dense and complex aromas, with notes of ripe yellow fruit, citrus fruits, aromatic herbs and hints of wild flowers. The palate has good body, with rich fruit and a pleasant savoury and mineral component. The finish is persistent and refreshing.
