The Pecorino "Vellodoro" is a soft and fresh white wine that comes from the hilly lands of Alto Chietino, vinified and aged in steel. It emanates fresh and fragrant aromas of fruit and white flowers with mineral nuances. On the palate, it is soft and pleasant, with beautiful sapidity.

The Vellodoro is an Abruzzo Pecorino that makes freshness and drinkability its strong point. Umani Ronchi is one of the most well-known wineries in Italian wine, for the qualitative consistency of the bottles produced and for the attention to detail despite a very large vineyard heritage of about 210 hectares. A vast estate that extends between the area of the Castelli di Jesi, the Conero, and Abruzzo, focusing on enhancing native grape varieties such as Verdicchio, Pecorino, Montepulciano, and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba among others. Three wineries, for three estates located and a single belief: to align local winemaking tradition with a measured modernity.

The Vellodoro wine comes from pure Pecorino grapes grown in Roseto degli Abruzzi, near Gran Sasso, with a small addition of other grapes harvested in the upper Chietino. Clay and sandy soil and a moderated temperature range are the ideal conditions for vine cultivation, and to best enhance the quality of the grapes. The first phase consists of a manual harvest of the bunches, followed by a careful selection of the grapes. After destemming and crushing, the must is fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks, and the aging takes place in the same tanks for 4 months on the fine lees. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out, to best preserve freshness and liveliness.

The white Vellodoro appears in the glass with an intense straw-yellow hue. It delights from the first sniff, offering in succession crisp fruity notes such as green apple and loquat, followed by bunches of white flowers and a consistently refreshing balsamic note. The sip combines sharply defined freshness and sapidity, united by a well-present presence that makes you think of biting into a ripe fruit. A beautiful everyday wine, it enhances fish appetizers like carpaccio and crudités, but also pairs well with a simple spaghetti with clams. Rarely such a favorable quality-price ratio!
