The Piedirosso “Plutone” is a soft and fragrant red wine from Campania, vinified and aged only in steel. Fresh and fruity aromas evoking cherries accompany a slim, pleasant, and very balanced sip, with excellent freshness and drinkability.

The Piedirosso “Plutone” from the Benevento winery Ocone is a red wine with a harmonious, fragrant, and fruity profile, elegantly interpreting the characteristics of this historic Campanian grape variety. The choice of vinification only in steel enhances the straightforward and direct profile of the wine, which is appreciated for its clear expressive simplicity and great drinkability. It is a light, agile red that is particularly versatile at the table. It pairs very well with tomato pasta, baked pasta, poultry, and roasted white meats.

The “Plutone” is a pure Piedirosso produced in the Sannio Beneventano. The Ocone winery has been cultivating vines since the early 1900s in the Ponte area. Even today, it produces wines strongly linked to the history and tradition of the territory, using local indigenous grape varieties: Aglianico, Piedirosso, Coda di Volpe, Greco, Fiano, and Falanghina. The Piedirosso vines are located in the hilly area of Taburno, near the municipality of Ponte, at an altitude between 200 and 400 meters above sea level, on alluvial soils rich in limestone.alluvial, rich in limestone. The manual harvest takes place at the beginning of October and after destemming, the grapes are sent for fermentation with a maceration period on the skins of about ten days, with periodic pump-overs. Before proceeding to bottling, the wine rests for several months in steel tanks, which preserve its fragrant varietal characteristics.

The Piedirosso "Plutone" by Ocone is the result of a winery research aimed at enhancing the indigenous grape varieties of the area, through a range of quality wines. The Piedirosso is the perfect alter ego of Aglianico: fruity, fresh, and low in tannins, it is appreciated for its youthful expressive immediacy. In the glass, it presents a bright ruby red color, with a bouquet that expresses aromas of ripe cherry, small red berry fruits, marasca, pomegranate, and delicate spicy nuances. The sip is smooth and easy, with juicy fruit and a fine tannic texture. The finish is harmonious, fresh, and balanced. It is the young and crunchy of the Piedirosso.
