Pigato from the Laura Aschero winery is a fine version of the most typical white wine of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente. It is a fragrant and fruity wine, made from a grape variety historically cultivated in these lands and which from a genetic point of view is a particular clone of Vermentino. The mild climate of the first hinterland of the coast gives it a sunny and Mediterranean profile, which gives it a particularly harmonious, savoury and marine taste. Because of its characteristics, it is perfect with seafood hors d'oeuvres, fish dishes or delicate white meats. Insuperable with first courses with pesto typical of Ligurian cuisine.
The white Pigato is produced by a small family business based in the heart of the village of Pontedassio di Imperia. Since the 1970s, Laura Aschero decided to dedicate herself to viticulture by cultivating the family vineyards. In the beginning, the estate sold the grapes to small producers in the area. Only later did Laura begin to produce wine on an artisanal level. The vineyards are located in a magnificent hilly area and are cultivated on terraces, situated at an altitude of about 150 metres, in a sunny and windy zone. The Riviera's mild climate and good temperature fluctuations allow grapes of excellent quality to ripen. After the harvest, the grapes are softly pressed and the must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is bottled after a short ageing period in steel tanks.
The Pigato wine made by the Ligurian winery Laura Aschero brings the atmospheres of the territory into the glass in a direct and authentic way, with clear varietal fidelity. A classic expression of Liguria's best whites, in the glass it has a luminous light yellow colour. The bouquet is characterised by floral scents, hints of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit and light iodine nuances. The palate is soft and harmonious, with a fragrant, rich and pleasantly juicy fruit. The finish is savoury and of balanced freshness.
