The Laura Aschero winery is a family business that produces excellent artisanal wines in the beautiful area of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, particularly in the Pontedassio area of Imperia. The history of the estate dates back to the 1970s, when Laura Aschero decided to restore and give new life to the family vineyards, with the intention of selling the grapes to small local producers and creating a business that would keep her and her husband, now nearing retirement, busy. A sort of buen retiro among the vineyards. However, the quality of the grapes and the desire to prove herself soon pushed Laura to try her hand at the first vinifications for the production of a wine to be consumed among friends. The beginnings were encouraging, and thanks to the advice of winemaker Gianpaolo Ramò, who still oversees the winery, the quality of the wines improved rapidly.
Today it is Bianca, representing the third generation, who runs the small family business with her parents and carries on a production of excellent wines, capable of perfectly reflecting the territory. The estate is located in a wonderful hilly area and enjoys particularly favorable soil and climate conditions. The vineyards are protected from disturbances and cold air currents from the mountains and benefit from the mild ventilation of sea breezes. The climate is warm and temperate, typically Mediterranean, with good temperature ranges. The typical grapes of the area are grown in this natural habitat, first of all Pigato, then Vermentino and Rossese, a red grape that gives fresh, fragrant and delicate wines.
The great attention given to the vineyard allows healthy grapes with intense aromas to ripen, a fundamental prerequisite for then making quality wines. A special feature of the winery and having preserved to this day the historic family winery, which is located in an old warehouse located under a period building overlooking the main square of Pontedassio. A real peculiarity that is worth a visit alone. The spaces have been optimized as best as possible to contain steel tanks for fermentation and vats for aging. The entire winemaking process is carried out in a very simple way, thanks to a very respectful approach to the raw material. The labels are a faithful reflection of the terroir and of work conducted with love and passion.
