Pinot Blanc 'Princes Abbés' Schlumberger 2022
The Pinot Blanc 'Princes Abbés' produced by the Alsatian winery Schlumberger is a white wine that presents itself in the glass with a pale lemon yellow color. Its grapes, after a gentle pressing, are fermented at controlled temperature, and the wine subsequently ages on fine lees for a period in oak barrels. A label with a rich and lively sip that offers citrus notes, spicy hints, and floral aromas.
The Pinot Blanc “Princes Abbés” by Domaines Schlumberger is produced on the eastern border between France and Germany by a winery that has been managing and overseeing viticulture in this area since the 1500s. Most of the vineyards now tended were acquired after the end of the Second World War, among which stand out some important crus that give rise to the finest wines.
The working philosophy has always been oriented towards the preservation of traditional techniques, respecting the nature surrounding the vineyards and the raw materials, so as to ensure a sustainable production process.
The pure Pinot Blanc grapes of the Pinot Blanc “Princes Abbés” by Domaines Schlumberger grow in vineyards that take root in soils mainly composed of alluvial sediment, clay, and marl, a very fertile ground that guarantees characterful and structured products. Summers are characterized by high and sultry temperatures, while winters are cold, but the presence of nearby mountain ranges protects the rows from cold winds and sudden frosts. The grape harvest is done manually and alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel; in wood, it rests for 8-9 months on the fine lees.
The Pinot Blanc “Princes Abbés” by Domaines Schlumberger presents itself in the glass with a pale lemon yellow color and brilliant reflections. The bouquet of aromas recalls citrus zest, aromas of white flowers, and a peppery nuance on the finish; on the palate it is elegant and drinkable with a characterful and persistent structure that invites drinking. It pairs perfectly with dishes based on shellfish and mollusks, but also with white meats cooked in stew; interesting also with seasonal vegetable dishes and aged cheeses. A product with unexpected flavors, suitable for dinners with lifelong friends, sipping in the glass all the potential of Alsatian wines.
