The Pinot Noir Reserve 'Lahn' from Bergmannhof is an elegant expression of this noble grape variety that now calls South Tyrol home. The grapes ferment spontaneously in open oak vats and spend the following 10 months on the fine lees in tonneau, before bottling without filtration. An additional aging of at least 8 months in bottle completes the maturation, giving character and complexity. Intense notes of red fruits complement a spicy, balsamic background with hints of underbrush. On the palate, it is warm and juicy yet very refined.

The Pinot Noir Riserva 'Lahn' from the South Tyrolean winery Bergmannhof represents a juicy and fine expression of this noble Burgundian red grape variety, which in South Tyrol reaches qualitative heights of excellence. The 'Lahn' is one of the latest wines from the Bergmannhof, a Pinot Noir from a young vineyard planted in the Appiano Monte area. The name 'Lahn' comes from the South Tyrolean dialect and means 'avalanche', while 'Blauburgunder' is the German name for Pinot Noir.

Bergmannhof's ‘Lahn’ is a 100% Pinot Noir Reserve whose grapes are cultivated in the area of Appiano Monte under a certified organic system. The young vines stand on soils characterised by a high concentration of gravel, clay and limestone, benefiting from the sunny alpine climate that characterises the area. In the cellar, the grapes are mellowed in open oak vats, containers in which spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place in contact with the skins. The subsequent ageing phase takes place in oak tonneaux, on the fine lees for 10 months before final bottling, which is carried out without any filtering operations. The final release takes place after a further bottle ageing of at least 8 months.

In the glass, the South Tyrolean Riserva Pinot Noir 'Lahn' from the Bergmannhof estate exhibits a pale ruby red mantle. The aromatic range opens on seductive scents of violet, hibiscus and cherry, soon joined by hints of undergrowth and clove. Very fine and elegant on the palate, subtle but with good warmth, with velvety tannins that anticipate the savoury and juicy finish. The producer's own advice is to serve this Pinot Noir chilled, at a temperature of 14 °C, in order to enhance its aromas and flavour.
