It has an elegant and subtle bouquet of berries, licorice, cherries, and coffee. On the palate, it is soft, fresh, impeccable, and velvety.
The Pinot Noir “Domaine de Valmoissine” is a red wine of remarkable elegance and delicacy, born from the lands of the ancient monastery of Valmoissine, cultivated by the producer Louis Latour. The territory is that of Varo, on the southern and Mediterranean coast of France, a true cultural center of the Middle Ages, once inhabited by poets, monks, scholars, and jesters. Here, Latour decided to plant Pinot Noir starting in 1989, with the aim of producing an elegant and refined red with an excellent quality/price ratio.
The vineyards of Domaine de Valmoissine by Latour are about 15 years old and rise on clay and limestone soils at a 500 meters altitude. The south-facing exposure, the Mediterranean climate, sunny days, and cool nights ensure the perfect ripening of the grapes and a good aromatic concentration. The vinification takes place in open steel tanks, as is typical in the area, and the aging occurs in steel for about 12 months. Thanks to the favorable climate in which the grapes grow, this expression reaches its sunny and fresh softness without any wood aging.
The Pinot Noir Latour Domaine de Valmoissine presents itself in a classic ruby red dress of beautiful brightness. It teases the nose with young and intriguing aromas that become complex and articulated with small red forest fruits, cherry, licorice, underbrush, and coffee. On the palate it is soft, round, linear, and delicate, endowed with good freshness and velvety tannins. It pairs excellently with delicate dishes based on red meats, but also with mushrooms, cheeses, and vegetables. A fresh, pleasant, and Mediterranean expression of Pinot Noir!
