PINOT NOIR 'WEG' MELANIE PFISTER 2020 DESCRIPTION

Melanie Pfister's Pinot Noir "Weg" is an Alsatian red wine that expresses the crystalline class of the famous Burgundy grape, Pinot Noir. It is interpreted through a light, versatile and gastronomic version that makes easy drinking and freshness its main weapons. An interpretation much desired by Melanie, a young winemaker and inheritor of a knowledge that has been handed down for no less than 7 generations. Melanie did not rely solely on family teachings but wanted to interpret them with a touch of innovation and modernity. Tradition lives again in the vineyard where a very sensitive approach aimed at enhancing the terroir is one of the cornerstones of the young winemaker's thinking.

"Weg" is a red wine that comes from pure Pinot Noir grapes that come from the clay soils of Upper Alsace, more specifically from Dahlenheim, a small commune in the Lower Rhine department. The grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in a short time. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the intervention of indigenous yeasts, and aging continues for several months in the steel tanks where vinification took place. No clarification or filtration, only a negligible dose of sulfites.

The "Weg" Pinot Noir is colored in the glass with the classic lightly discharged ruby-red hue, with slight flashes of purple. The olfactory passport consists of a rich fruit family composed of cherry, cassis, forest berries and light herbaceous and vegetal nuances. A rustic note of earth and underbrush, with a pleasant spicy nuance, closes the olfactory picture. The sip has great momentum, vitality and freshness, with a very smooth and decidedly drinkable mouthfeel. A very juicy and artisanal interpretation of Alsace!
