The Primitivo "Maccone" is a medium-structured red wine from Puglia, born from old bush-trained vines and vinified only in steel, endowed with exuberant and seductive aromas. Scents of ripe red fruit, sweet spices, and sour cherries accompany a rich, fleshy, and articulated sip, with sweet tannins on the finish

The Primitivo ‘Maccone’ from the Apulian producer Donato Angiuli represents a expression of material concentration capable of faithfully reflecting the attributes of Primitivo, an indigenous black grape variety that has significantly contributed to the enhancement of Apulian winemaking. This bottle belongs to the ‘Maccone’ line, created by Donato Angiuli to pay tribute to his first cellar master, a professional man with a true personality who worked for several years in the vineyards and cellar of the estate, leaving an indelible memory. In particular, the selection includes labels made with grapes from old vineyards trained as bush vines.

Donato Angiuli ‘Maccone’ Primitivo comes from the homonymous pure grape variety grown between the municipalities of Adelfia, Acquaviva delle Fonti, and Casamassima, in the province of Bari. The vines, averaging about 60 years old, are largely trained as bush vines on clay soils. The harvest is done by hand in crates, and the bunches are then transferred to the cellar where they are crushed in stainless steel tanks for controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by 10 days of contact between the must and the skins. After racking and the fermentation process is completed, the mass spends several months maturing always in steel before bottling and subsequent marketing.

‘Maccone’ Primitivo by Donato Angiuli has an intense and consistent ruby red color tending towards violet. Rich and fragrant hints of ripe plum, sour cherry, and spicy notes characterize the olfactory panorama along with balsamic and Mediterranean notes. Exuberant, fleshy, and warm is the taste, equipped with sweet tannins and a seductive savory finish. The lasting epilogue insists on articulated sensations of ripe fruit and balsamic herbs.
