The Roero Arneis by Alberto Oggero is an expressive, energetic, and deeply territorial wine painting. Alberto's intention is to express the natural profile of the starting varietal, touching the grapes as little as possible in the cellar and letting the Roero emerge. White-fleshed fruit, candied apricot, chamomile, and herbs on the nose, and a rich, juicy, flavorful, and exquisitely savory taste on the palate

The Roero Arneis by Alberto Oggero is a new perspective on Roero, a challenge embraced and lived daily with this white grape and with the land that best represents it, a declaration of love for this territory. Not by chance, Alberto prefers to call it Roero Bianco, favoring the clear and typical aromas of the varietal to burst forth from the glass, rather than a standardized bouquet that is the same every year. The choice to make a different Arneis, which comes to market later and winks at craftsmanship, is courageous: it often divides opinions, leaves people puzzled, and certainly never bores.

Alberto Oggero cultivates Arneis on his vineyards that extend over just over 4 hectares, located in scattered plots in the Santo Stefano Roero area, among the most renowned, Le Anime and Le Coste. Here the soils are poor and sandy, capable of giving the final product natural finesse and sapidity, the slopes are steep, and the approach practiced among the rows is is organic. The alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous with pied de cuve prepared 15 days before the harvest and takes place in old cement tanks with half of the grapes macerating on the skins until the cap rises. Minimal intervention in the cellar means not touching the wine until spring and bottling it without filtration or clarification.

The Arneis by Alberto Oggero is the demonstration that this indigenous variety of Roero is capable of evolving over time, that it is worth waiting for it, rather than marketing it with the haste that the market imposes. Aromas of white flowers, chamomile, mint, and wild herbs follow each other in a rhythmic cadence from the first sniff, progressively giving way to ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, candied apricot, and sea breeze. On the palate, it is rich in savory and fresh verve, dances with vigor and energy, is juicy, straight, and of great typicity.
