The "Botrosecco" Red is a wine made from a typical blend of the Tuscan Maremma, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the result of Antinori's centuries-old experience in producing great reds. Indeed, Le Mortelle is one of the estates acquired over the decades by the Antinori family, with the intent to create a responsible production with very little impact on the environment. The "Botrosecco" is a harmonious label, where the territorial characteristics, the aromas reminiscent of the Maremma vegetative scrub, combine with notes derived from maturation in wood, giving rise to a very pleasant olfactory profile.
This "Botrosecco" Red is born from a skillful blend that Antinori creates within the cellar of the Le Mortelle estate, where Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc happily come together. The vines of these two varieties grow in the vineyards surrounding Castiglione della Pescaia, characterized by a terroir where silica, clay, and skeleton alternate from parcel to parcel. The grapes, once harvested, carry out alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in wood, macerating for about 15 days with periodic pump-overs. The aging takes place in barrique, and lasts for 12 months, after which the bottling operations are carried out.
