Sauro Maule's 'Cà Lombarda' is a Veneto red wine from the Colli Berici area. The name of the wine refers to the area of the same name in Val Liona where, in 2011, the winemaker first produced wine from rented vineyards. Today, Merlot and Tai Rosso grapes grow on limestone soils in plots surrounding the estate. Vinification takes place in steel tanks with a few days' maceration on the skins to preserve the fruit and delicacy of the tannins. The nose reveals hints of ripe red berries, floral notes and spicy nuances. The palate shows moderate structure, with soft tannins and balanced freshness. It pairs naturally with a traditional rabbit casserole dish
