Everything about this Rosso “Glouglou” by Elios invites to drink: from the colorful and dynamic label, which almost resembles futurist paintings, to the stylized man drinking directly from the bottle and the very name “glouglou”. The guys at Elios – Nicola, Roberto, and Guido – do their best to bring to the table the most sincere and straightforward Sicily, the one their parents introduced them to. On their fields, by the sea between Alcamo and Monreale in the province of Trapani, they carry out environmentally friendly practices focused on genuineness: they are certified organic and strive to grow an integrated and healthy microcosm among olive groves, vineyards, and beekeeping.
Elios “Glouglou” is a pure Nerello Mascalese, an indigenous grape variety with a deep Sicilian imprint. The vineyards from which the grapes are sourced rise on soils characterized by brown clay and are located 250 meters above sea level in the Monreale area. On the nose, there are hints of red fruit, small berries, and fresh cherries, punctuated by notes of aromatic herbs that make the aromas pleasant and relaxed. On the palate, the standout characteristics are definitely freshness and lightness. It descends into the body gently with a balanced minerality, with a fine and light texture.
