Rosso 'Le Campette' Raina 2022
Artisanal"Le Campette" by Raina is a red wine that combines in a well-balanced synthesis the energy of Sangiovese, the softness of Merlot, and the tannic structure of Sagrantino. It is born in the Umbrian territory after a maturation of 24 months in large oak barrels. It expresses warm and enveloping aromas of berries, sweet spices, and wilted roses, and has a full-bodied, long, and structured taste.
The Rosso "Le Campette" by Raina is an extremely balanced and satisfying everyday wine, a vibrant and unfiltered expression of Umbria. Raina takes its name from the winemaker who for years has managed the wine-growing area acquired in 2002 by Francesco Mariani, although Francesco immediately decided to plant new vines. The choice was clear and decisive from the start, namely to produce liquids that were genuine and credible expressions of the territory, therefore to achieve this goal, chemical or synthetic substances were immediately banned in the vineyard. In the winery, the same approach continues with spontaneous fermentations and without clarifications or filtrations, with a pinch of sulfur added at bottling. A happy and extremely focused hand that brings to life bottles to try to drink a piece of the peninsula.
They have a southeast exposure and are cultivated at 230 meters above sea level. The grapes, harvested by hand, are collected at different times depending on the variety. After destemming and crushing, fermentation begins spontaneously with a 15-day maceration on the skins in steel containers. The aging of the liquid takes place for 24 months in large oak barrels and for 6 months in stainless steel, before an additional 6-month resting period in the bottle.
