The Rosso di Montalcino from the Baricci winery is an expressive and territorial wine, aged for 8 months in large barrels. It is animated by elegant aromas of black cherry, spices and licorice. The taste is dry, harmonious and juicy, endowed with backbone and persistence
Baricci's Rosso di Montalcino comes from a historic winery, which cultivates an estate in the renowned Montosoli area, which has always been known as one of the best in the Montalcino area. The particularly cool climate, always very breezy, and soils consisting of stony marls, rich in marl, quartz and schist, are ideal for the cultivation of Sangiovese, which has found its ideal habitat here for centuries. Podere Colombaio di Montosoli is a small, family-run property that produces wines with a traditional profile and an artisanal face, authentically expressing the character of the land.
Rosso di Montalcino wine is produced by one of the most interesting wineries in the northern part of Montalcino. Baricci has been growing vines since 1955 and is still a reference for wines from the area. The grapes come from several of the estate's vineyards, all of which are located on the Montosoli hill, at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, with a sunny south-facing, southeastern exposure, which favours full ripening of the grapes, thanks to part to good temperature ranges between day and night temperatures. The vines are managed with care and attention, without the use of herbicides and with manual processing. At the end of the harvest, the best grapes are sent to fermentation with traditional maceration on the skins. Before bottling, the wine matures for a period of at least 8 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and rests in the cellar for a few months before being offered for sale.
Rosso di Montalcino from the Baricci winery perfectly expresses the personality of a young, fragrant Sangiovese, which aims to bring out the fruity character of high-quality grapes. Its characteristics of flowing immediacy make it an excellent table companion to accompany first courses with meat or game sauces, roasted white meats or a platter of flavorful Tuscan cured meats. To the eye, it is ruby in colour with luminous highlights. Exuberantly fruity, it gives aromas of cherry, morello cherry, small red berries, light nuances of violets, and slight hints of spice. Medium-bodied, it has a subtle tannic texture that is well integrated with ripe, juicy fruit, pleasantly accompanying the sip toward a refreshing finish with good flavour persistence.
