Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva 'Le Lucciole' Chiara Condello 2022
Artisanal
Perfect to give as a giftThe Sangiovese di Romagna Reserve "Le Lucciole" is the jewel of the production of the young Romagna winemaker Chiara Condello. A full-bodied artisanal wine, well-structured and with great vigor, it presents intense aromas of ripe red fruit, sweet spices, and earthy notes on the nose. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, it is then left to age in oak barrels.
Le Lucciole Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva represents the flagship label of the young and promising Romagna producer Chiara Condello. With just under 5 hectares of vineyards, entirely planted with Sangiovese, and an annual production of only 30,000 bottles, Chiara enthusiastically and passionately offers wines that can tell the story of their terroir. The cru Le Lucciole embodies the artisanal and natural philosophy of this winemaker. The label was designed by the Marche artist Francesca Ballarini, with the common intent to tell a different story with each vintage.
The Romagna DOC Le Lucciole Riserva by Chiara Condello is a pure expression of Sangiovese, coming from a small plot of just 0.8 hectares cultivated following the principles of organic farming on poor, calcareous-clay soils rich in tuffaceous-sandy rocks. The harvest is done by hand and the subsequent alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously, with 25-45 days of contact between the must and the skins. The wine then spends several months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 35 hectoliters, before being bottled without undergoing filtration.

The nose ranges from vivid aromas of ripe red fruit and sweet spices to fresh memories of underbrush, while the tasting reveals full body and remarkable vigor, as well as great balance between the enveloping roundness, the decisive fresh-salty push, and the velvety tannic texture. At the table, it pairs divinely with structured and succulent main courses, such as red meats and game stews. A precious interpretation that celebrates the Romagna terroir, revealing it in all its splendor.
