Santagostino Baglio Sorìa' Rosso Firriato 2020
The Santagostino by Firriato is a red wine that is meaty and exuberant, made from Syrah and Nero d’Avola grapes from the Tenuta Baglio Sorìa and aged for about 8 months in American barrels. A bouquet of sour cherries, berries, tobacco and sweet spices enlivens a warm, full-bodied, velvety and enveloping sip.
The "Santagostino Baglio Sorìa" is a Sicilian red wine where an excellent balance between freshness and alcohol content reigns, combined with a pleasant complexity of aromas on the nose. Firriato, a wine producer from Trapani, seeks the synthesis between passion and quality, to create labels that, sip after sip, express the enological potential of the Sicily region. Just like this bottle, where the territorial roots of Nero d’Avola intertwine with the international personality of Syrah, acquiring a profile of great respect. A characterful red, to be tasted to appreciate an excellent and established winery.
This "Santagostino Baglio Sorìa" is born from the happy embrace between an indigenous grape variety, Nero d’Avola, and an international one, Syrah, which in Sicily manages to express itself at excellent qualitative levels. The vines of these two varieties grow within vineyards characterized by a calcareous and clayey subsoil, facing south and southwest, within the Tenuta Baglio Sorìa, in the Agro of Trapani. The grapes, carefully selected during the harvest phase, they ferment alcoholically in steel, remaining on the skins for 10 days. Then we move on to the aging phase, where the wine remains for 8 months in American oak barrels.
The red "Santagostino Baglio Sorìa" presents itself to the eyes with a decidedly intense ruby red color. The aromas that characterize the nose play a melody that is mainly fruity, with some notes shifting towards aromatic herbs and sweet spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy, and enveloping, with a Mediterranean imprint, where the tannins caress the palate with delicacy and softness. An excellently crafted product made by the Firriato winery, which, year after year, continues to win over wine lovers around the world.
