SAUVIGNON FRANCO TERPIN 2016 DESCRIPTION

Franco Terpin's Sauvignon is one of Collio's most exciting macerated white wines, a liquid that blends aromaticity and firmness in a sip with a mile-long persistence. Franco Terpin is undoubtedly one of the faces that have contributed to the enhancement of Collio, an area that has enjoyed alternating fame but which, thanks to figures such as Josko Gravner, Stanko Radikon, Dario Princic and Franco himself, has managed to achieve almost unique credibility and territorial identity. In almost 30 years of history, Franco, while not allowing himself to be overwhelmed by immobilism and thus continuing to probe the full potential of local grape varieties, has pursued a non-interventionist line, excluding the use of chemicals in the vineyard and cellar. His wines have the power to combine spontaneity and finesse, and the maceration practiced on all liquids is never overpowering but merely enhances complexity and variety of nuances. Undoubtedly among the most evocative producers in Italy.

The white Sauvignon is made from pure grapes of the variety of the same name, from 25-year-old vines resting on the typical Collio soils consisting of Ponka, or sandstone marls that characterize the area. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, the dictates of organic farming are followed, resorting to the use of only a little copper and sulfur. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and 10-day maceration on the skins is continued, without the liquid undergoing clarification or filtration. Aged for one year in oak barrels and one year in steel tanks before bottling.

The Sauvignon wine presents itself in the glass with an intriguing bright amber hue. Rich and even exotic nose, where hints of mango, dehydrated apricot, ginger and oriental spices emerge. The sumptuous olfactory profile is matched by a complex and filling, but never baroque, energetic and rhythmic sip. Determinant is the saline lengthening, also functional in amplifying the wine's persistence. Bottle that remains imprinted.
