The Sauvignon 'Fumé' from the Weingut Abraham winery is a white wine that, as can be inferred from the name, is characterized by sophisticated smoky notes, partly due to aging in wood and partly to the mineral-rich soil, quartz porphyry and slate mica where the roots of the vines from which it comes are anchored. Soft, structured and persistent on the palate, the typical notes of Sauvignon are not lost but are supported and enriched by smoky nuances, making this wine the ideal companion for important fish-based first and second courses

Sauvignon “Fumé” is an expression that recalls the great French terroirs of the noble white grape, and which Weingut Abraham rightfully claims: a white that is born on the rocks, within a particularly suited territory, revealing all its powerful mineral finesse.

Weingut Abraham produces its Sauvignon “Fumé” by vinifying in purity the Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the historic estate of Kreithof, in the area of the municipality of Appiano: the vines, propagated from old South Tyrolean rootstocks, are rooted on the slopes of a morainic hill facing southeast over the Adige valley, at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level. The soil composition is characterized by almost outcropping primary rock and a great complexity of minerals, including porphyry, granite, gneiss, and slate: together with a thin layer of soil, they represent the ideal terroir for the development of the peculiar nuances of this white. In the vineyard, work is done following a total sustainability approach, environmental, avoiding interventions with synthetic chemical products, while the harvest is carried out manually at the ripeness of the fruits. In the winery, a cold maceration of the grapes is carried out for about 24 hours, followed by direct pressing: the alcoholic fermentation takes place in 500-liter oak barrels, using only indigenous yeasts. 20% of the mass is left to macerate on the skins for 4 weeks: after blending, malolactic fermentation takes place and, finally, aging continues on the fine lees for 16 months.

The Sauvignon 'Fumé' Weingut Abraham presents an intense straw yellow color, with distinctly golden reflections. Thanks to the terroir of origin and the skilled winemaking work, the aromas revolve around a peculiar smoky nuance and distinctly mineral hints of graphite and flint. The more delicately floral and vegetal notes lead to a typically varietal tasting: on the palate, the sip reveals all its richness and enveloping character, marked by a vibrant and endless saline trail.
