Sauvignon 'Voglar' Peter Dipoli 2019
"Voglar" is a famous and historic expression of Sauvignon from Alto Adige: a rich, energetic, and complex white wine, vinified and matured in large acacia barrels. Herbaceous, citrus, and mineral aromas integrate into a crisp, fresh sip with beautiful tension.
Fresh, rocky, well-structured, the Sauvignon "Voglar" by Peter Dipoli is part of the Olympus of great Sauvignon in Italy. "Voglar" is the ancient name of the area where it is born, where the historic vineyard of Peter Dipoli is located, in the locality of Penon, under the municipality of Cortaccia. These are terraced slopes that extend over 3 hectares situated between 500 and 600 m in altitude.
The high hill favors the complete ripening of the grapes without loss of acidity and aromas, from which the Sauvignon "Voglar" is born. The harvest usually takes place between late September and early October, after which the grapes are brought to the winery and pressed. The must ferments for 10 days in large acacia barrels and then, avoiding malolactic fermentation, a resting on the lees is planned until May, with batonnage every 10 days in the first months. The final aging takes place in the bottle, where the wine remains for several months before being put on the market.
The Sauvignon "Voglar" is a white wine with aromas complex that synthesize the best characteristics of the grape variety. The nose is enchanted by aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, delicate herbal and rocky notes. The sip is fresh and energetic, savory and structured, tense and very long. The full-bodied and rich personality allows the wine to withstand medium-term aging in the bottle, during which the wine continues to evolve and open up. Recognized by critics and the public as one of the greatest expressions of Sauvignon, the Voglar is certainly at the top of the production of white wines from South Tyrol.
