The Schiava "Fallwind" from San Michele Appiano is a red wine aged in large wooden barrels for about 6 months. Excellent when slightly chilled, with fruity and violet notes. Full-bodied, soft, with an almond sensation and pleasant drinkability

The Schiava “Fallwind” from the San Michele Appiano winery is a light, fresh, and delicate red wine produced from selected vineyards in the Pagis area of Appiano, between the villages of San Michele and San Paolo, in Alto Adige. This area, which represents the largest and most extensive vineyard park in South Tyrol, has achieved excellent results in terms of grape quality thanks to intense and careful zoning work. The “Fallwind” from San Michele Appiano is made from pure Schiava grapes, an indigenous red grape variety that has been the most widespread in this region for centuries. The vineyards, located at an altitude of about 400-450 meters and facing south/east, are cultivated using the South Tyrolean pergola system on soils characterized by gravelly soils with high limestone content. The winery, founded in 1907, now consists of more than 340 member growers, representing one of the most important cooperative realities we have in our country.

The Schiava "Fallwind" from San Michele Appiano is produced with carefully selected and harvested grapes towards the end of September. The bunches are then brought to the winery for destemming and gentle crushing of the berries, which, once the must is released, are fermented in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature, with skin maceration. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, the grapes are pressed and subsequently racked, after which the wine is transferred to large wooden barrels, 70-100 hectoliters, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and then remains in aging for at least 5-6 months before being bottled and made available to the public.

The “Fallwind” Schiava from the San Michele Appiano winery presents itself with a medium intensity ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, including cherry, currant, and wild strawberry, floral notes of violet and rose, light spicy hints, and a vague memory of cotton candy appear. On the palate, it is soft, dry, and fruity with a sip of pleasant grace and finesse.
