Sforzato 'Corte di Cama' Mamete Prevostini 2019
The Sforzato di Valtellina "Corte di Cama" by Mamete Prevostini is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes, dried for 2 months to increase its concentration, which is presented at the sight of an elegant garnet red with orange nuances. It expresses to the nose fragrant aromas of dried flowers, vanilla and cloves on a background of fruit in alcohol while the mouthfeel is full and velvety, of great body and elegant structure with vibrant and persistent freshness.
The Sforzato “Corte di Cama” from the Mamete Prevostini winery is a red wine of great thickness and intensity produced in Mese, in the province of Sondrio, in Valtellina. This label is made from pure Chiavennasca grapes, as the Nebbiolo grape is called in this area, sourced from vineyards in the municipalities of Berbenno, Sondrio, Montagna, and Teglio located at an altitude between 350 and 500 meters. The vines are south-facing and are trained using the traditional guyot method on soils of shattered granite rock characterized by sandy-silty soils. The winery is a modern and eco-sustainable family-run business, currently managed by Mamete Prevostini, who is also the president of the consortium for the protection of Valtellina wines.
The “Corte di Cama” Sforzato is produced with grapes hand-picked in small crates in early October and left to dry naturally in the fruit room, an airy space on the top floor of the winery, until mid-December. At this point, the bunches are ready to be destemmed and gently pressed to undergo alcoholic fermentation, using exclusively indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins of at least 18 days. This is followed by pressing in a wine press, after which the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and remains in aging for about 18 months in oak barrels, before being bottled and maturing in the bottle for another 10 months before being put on the market.
The Sfurzat “Corte di Cama” by Mamete Prevostini presents itself visually with a garnet red color with orange reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe fruit and fruit in alcohol appear, including sour cherries and raisins, floral notes of dried flowers, and spicy hints of vanilla and cloves. On the palate, it is warm, velvety, powerful, and elegant, characterized by beautiful freshness and a long persistence. This wine from the Mamete Prevostini winery is a well-balanced red with great substance, capable of best interpreting the Valtellinese terroir.
