While the label remains faithful to the history of the Colli Piacentini, where Barbera and Croatina have thrived for centuries, the winemaking process partially employs the practice of drying the grapes, allowing for a greater concentration of sugars and aromas. The result is a balanced red wine with great drinkability, faithfully expressing the varietal characteristics of the grapes, with a touch of softness that makes each sip smooth and satisfying.
The "Sforzino" red originates from a Val Tidone winery that produces wines with an artisanal profile. Marinferno cultivates its vineyards in the Colli Piacentini area and works with the region's classic grape varieties to offer genuine and straightforward wines. The Barbera grapes come from the Vigna Lunga of Podere Solana and are hand-harvested when the fruity fragrance and freshness ensure excellent quality.quality. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control. In November, 10% of Croatina, dried in the winery on special mats, is added to the Barbera wine. This initiates a second fermentation with a maceration on the skins for a period of four months before proceeding to the final bottling.
Marinferno "Sforzino" is a red wine that finds its gustatory balance by combining the fresh expressive liveliness of Barbera with the mature component and softness of the sweet fruit of Croatina. A blend of two regional grapes, borrowing from other regions, particularly Valtellina and Valpolicella, the technique of drying the grapes. It has a purplish-red color with slight violet reflections.
